Try out the art of Tehzip (Islamic Illumination patterns to fill your Sunday afternoon with something fun and relaxing. Compose a pattern with Islimi motifs using mirror symmetry.

Join us for a six weeks long Islamic illumination course where you learn to compose exquisite manuscript decorations using Islimi motifs. We will draw, paint and line a final Shamseh composition.
Week 1: Learn to draw islimi (arabesque) motifs
Week 2: Compose basic forms using mirror symetry
Week 3:

Dye paper using natural dyes, and prepare it for painting

Start composing Shamseh
Week 4: Complete Shamseh composition
Week 5 & 6: Paint and learn to intricately outline final composition using ink
Outcome: A solid foundation in Isliamic illumination art, a finished painting, and the skills to make many more!

10 am - 12 pm BST ONLINE
Learn to draw single portrait figures in Persian miniature style. The course is drawing intensive and will result in beautiful monochrome figures lined with an ink and a brush on naturally dyed paper.
Week 1: Learn to figures in proportion
Week 2: Learn to use line and form to create the intricate detail of Persian miniature. Focus: draw details such as turbans, lamps and belts

Week 4: Practice lining and shading techniques
Week 5: Line final composition using ink
